We are pleased to (finally) announce our summer interns. Although they all have been interning for Waste Free Earth since May, with everything going on in the world, we decided to hold off on the announcement. We are extremely grateful that our team of interns understood and stood by our reasoning. Which makes us even more thankful that we have them on our team!
At Waste Free Earth, we are a small team and couldn't do what we do without the help of our wonderful interns that we source locally from the surrounding colleges in Burlington, Vermont. They help reduce our stress and allow us to amplify our message.
Please join us in welcoming them all onto our team.
Meet our Content Creator Intern - Kate!
Kate Hoffman is a junior at UVM studying environmental science and minoring in geospatial technology. In her free time, she loves to do yoga, climb, hike, and spend time with friends. At UVM she is involved in the climbing team, food recovery network, and an employee at the children’s center. She is passionate about educating others about the environment and living a sustainable lifestyle. She hopes to influence environmental policy changes through mapping and remote sensing in my future.
Meet our Social Media Intern - Sammie!
Sammie Lee Wilhoit is a Professional Writing major going into her Junior year at Champlain College. She's the summer social media intern for Waste Free Earth. She creates posts and manages the Instagram and Facebook for Waste Free Earth. She enjoys writing poetry, singing, and photography. She is inspired by Greta Thunberg and wants to understand how to reduce climate change through actions. She loves working with Waste Free Earth because it's awesome to have a woman boss who supports her creativity.
Meet our Media Relations Photographer and Videographer Intern - Clay!
Clay Drinwater is currently a student at the University of Vermont pursuing a major in Marketing and minor in Film. He has always been interested in film and the ways it is able to influence audiences' thoughts and actions. He chooses to combine these two fields of study because marketing often implements video as a means of influencing the thoughts and purchasing activity of consumers. He is excited to be able to implement such strategies with Waste Free Earth, as sustainability is something he is very passionate about. He spends a great deal of time outdoors, with his hobbies including cliff jumping, rock climbing and hiking, and nothing bothers him more than seeing trash scattered around his favorite spots. He admires Waste Free Earth's initiative to divert such waste while preventing it from entering the environment and looks forward to joining the team's efforts.
